In the fall of 1981, Rob Isringhausen founded Isringhausen Imports as a pre-owned car dealership specializing in high-end automobiles. The creation of the dealership was a direct result of Rob being a true car enthusiast whose passion pushed him into the business. Rob was joined in January of 1984 by his brother Geoff who then became the fourth employee of Isringhausen Imports. In 1985, Isringhausen obtained the SAAB franchise, followed by BMW and Porsche in 1989. In 1990, Isringhausen expanded to Decatur, Illinois by acquiring the Mercedes and Audi dealership in that market. Geoff ran the Decatur operation until 1997 when the two locations were consolidated. At this time, Rob and Geoff committed to their core franchise group of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, which is still in place today.

July of 2003, Isringhausen marked the start of a new era for the dealership with the opening of their new building adjacent to their primary facility in downtown Springfield. “Our original intent with the new building was adding depth to our pre-owned inventory,” states Geoff Isringhausen. “We have a knack for finding good cars and getting them at marketable prices to offer to a variety of people with a variety of needs.” As the years have progressed, more pre-owned vehicles of all makes and models have been added to the mix and with that, the faces that walk in the Isringhausen doors have diversified as well.

Construction continued in 2004 with the completion of a new Porsche showroom and an overall structural rehabilitation of the original building.

In addition to the physical façade changes of the business itself, Isringhausen has continued to transform in regards to the faces of those who come to purchase a car from them each day. “It has taken quite an effort to get people to understand the concept that we give the same level of service no matter what car you're considering,” states Geoff Isringhausen. “People who may have never considered Isringhausen as an option when purchasing a vehicle are now walking through the door and are quite pleased with the results.”

Over the past 25 years, Isringhausen has become synonymous with quality vehicles and superb service. The “Isringhausen-Way” of doing business has been one of offering excellent products at fair prices coupled with service that goes above and beyond what anyone would expect from a typical car dealership. “We believe that good service is comprised of two components, a willing and helpful attitude accompanied by competency in your field. If any of the two elements is absent, it can result in an unpleasant experience,” states Geoff Isringhausen. “We try try to support an environment where each person who works here strives to serve each customer as they wish to be served, with dignity and respect.” Because of these core values, Isringhausen has become a leading example in the industry.
